The Supreme Court Blows It

Found by way of Instapundit.

As a homeowner, I'll tell you that this one makes me want to scream. Now the local government muckety-mucks, having been paid large amounts of fundage by rich developers, can take people's property away merely to clear the way for development.

The Founding Fathers are spinning in their graves.

Update: More at Michelle Malkin, with links to other bloggers' comments, plus a link to a statement from the Institute for Justice.

Another Update: Still more from VodkaPundit. "This is a dreadful decision. If politicians have the right to take your private property and give it to somebody else just because the other guy claims that he can generate more taxes from it, then property rights have ceased to exist in the US."

Yet Another Update: Bloggers continue to weigh in. More at The Indepundit and The Command Post. There's a collection of bloggers reacting listed at Arguing With Signposts.
